I NEVER tire of seeing old clips of Carolena, Kathy and Rena performing together. I first saw them in the early 2000s when I got Volume 1 Tribal basics. I enjoy seeing clips of the "olden and golden" FCBD performances....

I loe ATS with turbns. I love the look better than the modern one with haor sticks and stuff. the Turban is unique and personal like the dancer's tattooing. I love it!

for those who don't know about FTBD, everything is improvised by following cues from whichever dancer takes the lead. it is very smooth and beautiful to watch. had the chance to attend a seminar with them. they are patient teachers and the performance got a standing ovation.

ATS is a dance format created by Carolena Nericcio... Tribal influence and elements were brought by Jamila, but the ATS format is Carolena's.

Jamila Salimpour started Tribal in the sense that she started a more folkloric style in the early 60s. She was also one of the first people to teach bellydance in the US at all. Carolena and FCBD started ATS with the group improv in the mid 80s.

hmm i quite like it but still it s more of a "castanuelas" flamenco like play rather than raks sharki.. that s what disturbs me a bit it s an innovation, sure, but that s not traditional or typical..
